Cars in Germany's Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police reported they were alerted by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Police report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials state early analysis suggest the liquid was likely human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the residents for details.

A high-ranking political figure commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.

"This event affects the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
