Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear unsuited, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group understands precisely where to go next after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the group enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
