Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former coach Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court after spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the last five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
